How to Design a Custom T-Shirt with AI (No Design Skills Needed)

1. Describe the artwork

In What should be printed on your shirt?, describe the main subject, what it is doing and the mood you want. Include important colors or composition details. Put any exact lettering in quotation marks.

Keep the idea focused. A short, clear request is often easier to review than a list of competing directions. See the prompt-writing guide for more examples.

2. Choose your shirt color and optional art direction

Select a shirt color. Think about contrast: pale details need enough separation from a pale shirt, and dark details can disappear against black.

Open Add an art direction if you want a particular look. Choose a style such as Tattoo Art, Vintage Comic or Feminine, or use Or describe a style to give your own direction. Leaving this optional step unset lets the generator work from your idea; it does not guarantee a particular vintage or distressed finish.

3. Create and inspect the preview

Select Create my shirt preview. Review the displayed allowance or credit cost and complete verification if requested. Keep the page open while the design is prepared.

Check every word, face, hand and important object. Look at the whole print, its edges and its contrast with your chosen shirt. AI can produce unexpected details or incorrect lettering. The preview helps you judge the design, but screen colors and the physical print can differ.

Customer example: a gorilla overhead squat

This customer started with a short, specific prompt:

The prompt names one subject and a clear action. The supplied design preview shows a gorilla in a deep squat with a loaded barbell overhead. The customer photo shows the design on a black shirt.

For an action pose like this, inspect the hands, limbs and barbell as well as the overall silhouette. Your result can differ even with the same prompt, so review your own preview before ordering.

4. Refine the result

Open Make an edit, describe a focused change, and select Update shirt preview. The button shows the credit cost. For example: "Make the moon smaller and keep the words OFF DUTY unchanged." Inspect the complete result again because an edit can affect other details.

You can change the color on new shirt previews without regenerating the artwork. Some older saved designs need a confirmed update; follow the displayed options and cost. Use Start over for a new idea, and save any version you want to keep first.

5. Add a supported band logo, if available

Eligible artwork shows Add Band Logo in the preview. Sign in, then upload a horizontal PNG or WebP logo with a transparent background. Smizzy positions it automatically. You can replace or remove it using the logo controls.

This option depends on the artwork and existing add-ons. It is not a general photo-upload or free-placement tool. Read the band-shirt guide for file requirements and saved-logo options.

New shirts use a front print. The earlier QR back-print workflow is no longer offered for new T-shirt designs.

6. Choose options and save or share

Choose the shirt size and quantity. Check the shirt details and size information rather than assuming the fit matches another shirt you own.

Choose Save design to keep a version in Saved shirts. Guest saves stay in the current browser. Sign in for account saving and access on another device. Follow the displayed capacity and expiry information; saved designs are not permanent file storage.

To share, sign in and use the share control on a saved shirt. A recipient can view the preview link and sign in to save a copy. Save the version you want to share after making changes.

7. Review the cart and order

Add the shirt to your cart using the button that shows your selected quantity and price, then check the design, color, size and quantity in your cart. To order multiple sizes, add the required options and confirm each cart line.

The cart and checkout show current prices, eligible discounts and shipping charges. Continue to checkout, review the address and total, then pay. Guest checkout is supported. Read the Shipping Policy and Return & Refund Policy before buying.
